COLDWATER, MS — Ahead of the official release of the state accountability ratings this Thursday, Tate County School District is addressing our performance results directly with our community.
Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, the Mississippi Department of Education updated state accountability standards. Under Mississippi law, when performance across the state reaches a designated threshold, the state raises performance targets and establishes higher benchmark cut scores. Because this year's ratings represent a new baseline under these elevated expectations, changes in letter grades across districts statewide were anticipated, and families should use caution when comparing this year’s letter grades with previous years.
While our preliminary results indicate a decrease in overall performance that falls short of our standards, we acknowledge these ratings with disappointment, but more importantly, with a firm commitment to immediate and meaningful improvement. A single letter grade does not fully capture the resilience of our students, hard work of our educators, or the progress happening inside our classrooms every day.
At Tate County School District, our commitment remains unwavering: helping every student succeed, and we appreciate the ongoing partnership of our parents and community as we continue pursuing excellence together.
